6/3/23
The 305 sprint car series would roll into Lernerville Speedway for a beautiful day of racing. 7 drivers would look to compete for crucial points in the later portion of our season.
Series newcomer Yaskulski would have to load up the trailer after hot laps leaving 6 drivers for the show.
Morano would set the pace in Qualifying with a 14.104 followed by Chatham, Shepard, Smith, Burns and Mansberger.
The 6 car field would be split into two heat races.
Heat 1 would see Shepard and Morano trade slide jobs and crossovers. Shepard would eventually pull out to a half second lead and secure the pole for the feature. Morano would finish 2nd followed by Burns in 3rd.
Heat 2 would get dicy. Series vet Chatham and newcomer Smith would jump the cushion in sync coming off 4 around the midway point. Smith would take the tow. Mansberger would cruise to his first series heat race win followed by Chatham and Smith.
Come feature time Shepard and Mansberger would lead them to green. Shepard would jump out to the lead early and never look back. A caution around the 10 lap mark would stack the field back up. Shepard would get a good jump and fight off Morano who kept pulling even in the corners, but the high side run paid off for Shepard as he would find himself in Victory lane for the second time this season. Morano would finish 2nd followed by Chatham rounding out the podium. Mansberger, Smith and Burns would finish 4th-6th respectively.
The 305s will be action on June 7th at Eldora for 25 laps.
