The drivers would pull into Kokomo to take on the 1/4 mile track. While only 6 cars would compete it was tight racing all around.
Whitlock would set the pace in qualifying with a 12.442 followed by Matthews, Shepard, Bowes, Thompson and VanHouten.
With a small car count and drivers electing to tail the field the heat race got interesting. Matthews would jump out to an early lead with Whitlock in tow. Matthews would hang on securing the pole position for the feature. Whitlock would finish second followed by Bowes, Thompson, Shepard and VanHouten.
Come feature time Matthews and Whitlock would go at it till the halfway point for Whitlock had some technical difficulties and retired from the race. In the meantime Shepard was able to work his way to 3rd when the yellow came out. Matthews and Shepard would make contact on the restart but both drivers managed to sort themselves out and continue racing. In the closing 20 laps the top 2 would throw countless sliders and cross overs. Coming into 3 on the final lap Shepard went for the Hail Mary but let out to avoid any contact. Matthews would win a well deserved 2nd feature this season. Shepard would take 2nd followed by Bowes in 3rd. Thompson, VanHouten and Whitlock would finish 4-6 respectively.
The Pro Late Models will be action on June 5th at Lernerville for 30 laps.
